Song: The Leaves on the Trees (to the tune of The Wheels on the Bus)
The Leaves on the trees come tumbling down,
Tumbling down, tumbling down,
The Leaves on the trees come tumbling down,
All over town.
The Leaves on the trees are verde verde verde...
The Leaves on the trees are amarillo, amarillo, amarillo...
The Leaves on the trees are anaranjado, anaranjado, anaranjado...
The Leaves on the trees are rojo rojo rojo...
The Leaves on the trees are café, café, café…
Book: Veamos El Otoño by Sarah Schuette
Song: Scarecrow Song (to the tune of I'm a Little Teapot.)
I'm a little scarecrow
Stuffed with hay,
Here I stand in the field all day
When I see the crows,
I like to shout,
"Hey you crows you better get out!"
We used a crow puppet and boy puppet made to look like a scarecrow while sang the song.

Book: When Santa Lost His Ho-Ho-Ho/Cuando Santa Perdio su Ho! Ho! Ho! by Laura Rader.
Poem: Dear Santa based on a poem from It's Christmas by Jack Prelutsky. The poem a letter written to Santa listing what a child would like for christmas. We displayed a dozen pictures of possible to the children and taught them their names in Spanish. We then asked the children to pick 9 pictures which we substituted for the gifts in the poem, it worked out to be a little bit like a mad lib. Very funny!
Book: That’s Good! That’s Bad! On Santa’s Journey / Eso Es
Book: Have You Been Naughty or Nice?/¿Ha sido malo o bueno? by Ethan Long
Song: Feliz Navidad by Jose Feliciano. We handed out jingle bells and maracas and had the children do a Christmas Parade around the room.

Cats / Gatos, June 8th, 2009

Book: Grumpy Cat by Britta Teckentrup
Rhyme: Scat the Cat
I'm scat the cat,
I'm sassy and I'm fat
and I change my colors just like that (clap)
We also used a manilla envelope which we cut out so that it had a "window" on one side. Over the window we placed a cat transparency and then we filled the envelope with colored paper. Each time the kids clapped we removed a piece of paper and the cat magically changed colors. So cool!
Book: Bad Kitty by Nick Bruel. Bad Kitty is an alphabet book, so we read the story in English, but all the letters in Spanish. It's a great story and so funny!
Song: La Gatita Carlota
Book: How Many Cats by Lauren Thompson
Song: When Cats Get up in the Morning from Wiggleworms Love You.
Book: What Will Fat Cat Sit by Jan Thomas.
